Moonshine teams up with Daddies on Go Skateboarding Day

PNW Tour Stop:  Team Moonshine Mfg celebrates International Go Skateboarding Day with Daddies Board Shop.

Words by:  Jarrid Lopez @jarrid_lopez June 21st is the longest day of the year, providing the most daylight and stoke, which is why this day has been declared International Go Skateboarding Day. To celebrate this skaters holiday, team Moonshine spent a stoke filled afternoon at Daddies Boardshop and in the hills of Portland, Oregon. The day started with breakfast burritos with team moonshine. Then Salem local, Avery showed up to the house to ride with us to the Daddies Boardshop holiday session. We knew we were approaching the city of Portland by the sound of squeaking brakes from the rush hour.

We finally get to the shop, welcomed by a crowd of skaters celebrating the same holiday. Daddies Boardshop and Sizzle Pie hooked it up with some pizza for the whole party. After getting our fill of pizza and chilling, it was time to go shred an infamous run near Mt. Tabor. Only ten minutes away from the shop, this hill was steep, long, and buried in thane lines. It was a fun slope for moderate to expert skill level riders, with slide worthy pavement, excluding the cracks throughout the run. It was nice to recognize some familiar faces from our last visit to Portland, reconnecting and building stoked on each other, taking runs, and trying to follow each other’s lines. After skating a bit, we had a longest slide challenge with a chalk line to display the starting line. Without a doubt, only the local riders won the longest slides. After that came to a conclusion, we took pack runs throughout the rest of the afternoon.

Dinner and Great Memories

Once the light began to fade away, and the sun draining the energy from everyone, the hunger of a skater was strong. Before heading back to home base, we stopped at Little Big Burger with their famous truffle fries and hipster ketchup know as “katsup”. Overall, the day went well. We had a decent amount of riders come out to the session. It’s always fun to skate with a good group of people. Here at Moonshine, we wish you a happy holiday.
